David Norwood [ aka Trip Hop David ] is a contemporary jazz funk choreographer, educator, and creative force based in the Pacific Northwest.
Mr. Norwood’s work lives at the intersection of groove, precision, and storytelling, blending the raw edge of funk with the artistry and techniques of contemporary movement.
As an educator and choreographer, David believes dance should challenge the body, ignite the imagination, and reveal something honest about who we are.
His classes and creations are built on a the relentless pursuit of creative storytelling through movement. David has foundation of discipline and daily practice, infused with curiosity, cultural relevance, and the freedom to take risks.
David is deeply committed to uplifting dancers — giving them the tools and frameworks to discover their unique voice, the courage to experiment, and the confidence to step into their own spotlight.
Whether he is choreographing for stage, screen, or the classroom, his mission is always the same: to inspire excellence, spark creativity, and keep dance alive as both craft and celebration.
